Préparons-nous pour un programme de printemps
et d'été qui démontre notre solidarité!
Date: Wednesday, March 24, 2010
Time: 6:30pm - 9:30pm
Location: Annexe Charlevoix, 633 rue De Courcelle
Let's get ready for spring and summer projects that reflect our commitment ant solidarity as neighbors!
For Starters...
1. Un Village Branché: The group Île Sans Fil helps to set up wireless hotspots across the city, primarily in parcs and other public spaces http://www.ilesansfil.org/. We are hoping to provide everyone in the Village (from De Courcelle to the 780) with free access to the web. Their techno-savvy volunteers have accepted the technical challenge of setting up several strategically (ELPRO, 780, private roofs) placed routers (small antennas) to provide the village des Tanneries with a blanket of wireless access.
2. Jane's Walk in the Village: On Saturday May 2nd, neighborhood walks are held across North America in honor of Jane Jacobs. We will be leading a guided tour throughout the Village des Tanneries to further mediatize the repercussions of the Turcot reconstruction upon the community http://janeswalk.net/walks/view/village_des_tanneries/.
3. Fête des Voisins Solidaires: On Saturday June 5th, neighborhoods across Quebec will be encouraged to hold BBQs and Block Parties that bring neighbors closer. We would like to throw a large neighborhood block party in the front parking area of the 780 with a stage (provided by the borough) , live music with local indie bands, a bazaar, art exhibit, hot dogs, etc. http://fetedesvoisins-solidaires.wikispaces.com/
